Borussia Dortmund Take 1-0 Lead to Paris in Champions League Semi-Final
Match Report: Niclas Füllkrug's Goal Gives BVB Advantage
Dortmund Dominate in First Half, PSG Improve After Break
Borussia Dortmund took a valuable 1-0 lead in their Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. Niclas Füllkrug's first-half goal proved to be the difference, as Dortmund held on for a narrow victory at the Parc des Princes.
Dortmund started the game brightly and took the lead in the 27th minute. Jude Bellingham picked out Füllkrug with a cross from the left, and the striker made no mistake with a clinical finish into the bottom corner. PSG struggled to create clear-cut chances in the first half, with Dortmund's defense looking solid.
The hosts improved after the break, but they were unable to find a way past Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Kylian Mbappé had a number of chances to equalize, but he was unable to find the target. PSG also hit the crossbar through Lionel Messi, but Dortmund held on to secure a vital away victory.
The result gives Dortmund a narrow advantage heading into the second leg in Germany next week. PSG will need to score at least twice at the Westfalenstadion if they are to progress to the final.
