Hotfix for TPM 2.0 Support in Windows 7

Overview

A hotfix is now available for Windows 7 that adds support for Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0. TPM 2.0 is a security hardware module that provides hardware-based cryptographic operations. It is used to secure data, such as encryption keys and digital certificates, and to provide secure boot functionality.

Symptoms

When using Windows 7 with TPM 2.0, you may see the following symptoms: * Unknown devices in Device Manager * Errors in Device Manager for TPM 2.0 devices

Cause

The cause of this problem is that Windows 7 does not natively support TPM 2.0.

Resolution
